The Nordic
Leadership
Programme

Based on The Nordic Leadership Spiral

Develop yourself. Empower others.
Build stronger organizations.

Three residential modules. Six learning days. Personal insight and practical leadership development you can use at work.

  • 01 January to February 2027: digital introduction and preparation
  • 02 March to May 2027: three residential modules
  • 03 Six in-person learning days
  • 04 Personal leadership assessment
  • 05 International learning environment
  • 06 Leadership certification
  • 07 Nordic professional network

02 · Why this programme

Leadership is not what you know.It is what you do.

Leadership development should make a difference in everyday working life. Yet many leaders return from courses with new ideas but little lasting change. The Nordic Leadership Programme focuses on turning insight into behavior.

Built on more than 20 years of international leadership experience and the book The Nordic Leadership Spiral, the programme combines research informed perspectives with practical leadership challenges. You explore how communication, psychological safety, relationships, recognition, ownership, purpose and empowerment shape culture and performance, and how technology, artificial intelligence and changing expectations are transforming leadership.

The goal is not simply to become more knowledgeable. It is to become a more conscious, confident and effective leader.

03 · The Nordic Leadership Spiral

Six dimensions.One connected leadership journey.

The Nordic Leadership Spiral is the foundation of the programme. Leadership develops through six interconnected dimensions, each building on the one before and feeding the next. Select a dimension to explore it.

Dimension 01 · Psychological safety

I dare.

Creating an environment where people feel safe to speak openly, contribute ideas, challenge decisions and learn from mistakes.

Why it matters
Without safety, problems stay hidden and good ideas stay unsaid. It is the ground every other dimension stands on.
Common leadership challenges
Silence in meetings, decisions nobody questions, mistakes that are covered up instead of shared.
What you will learn
How your own behavior invites or shuts down candor, and how to respond when someone takes a risk.
In practice
You lead one real conversation in your team where disagreement is invited, then reflect on what changed.

Dimension 02 · Relationships

I belong.

Building trust, connection and meaningful professional relationships.

Why it matters
People give their best where they feel they belong. Trust makes cooperation faster and conflict more productive.
Common leadership challenges
Distance between leader and team, silos between departments, hybrid teams that rarely really meet.
What you will learn
How trust is built and broken, and how behavioral preferences shape the way people connect.
In practice
You map the key relationships around your role and choose one to invest in deliberately.

Dimension 03 · Recognition

I grow.

Understanding how appreciation, feedback and recognition support motivation, confidence and development.

Why it matters
Recognition tells people what matters. Specific feedback turns effort into growth.
Common leadership challenges
Feedback that only arrives when something goes wrong, praise that is vague or rare.
What you will learn
Positive psychology in practice, and how to give feedback that is specific, timely and believed.
In practice
You build a simple recognition habit with your team and follow how it affects energy and ownership.

Dimension 04 · Ownership

I take responsibility.

Developing accountability, initiative and shared responsibility.

Why it matters
Organizations move when people own outcomes, not only tasks.
Common leadership challenges
Decisions pushed upwards, unclear responsibilities, leaders who carry too much themselves.
What you will learn
How to clarify expectations, delegate real responsibility and hold people accountable with respect.
In practice
You hand over one decision you would normally keep, and support the person who takes it.

Dimension 05 · Purpose

I serve something bigger.

Connecting individual contributions with meaningful organizational goals.

Why it matters
Purpose gives direction when priorities compete and energy when work gets hard.
Common leadership challenges
Strategy that stays in slides, people who cannot see how their work makes a difference.
What you will learn
How to translate strategic direction into everyday meaning for your team.
In practice
You connect your team’s work to one organizational goal and test the story with your people.

Dimension 06 · Empowerment

I lift others.

Helping others grow through trust, autonomy, responsibility and support.

Why it matters
A leader’s real result is the strength of the people around them.
Common leadership challenges
Micromanagement under pressure, talent that is not developed, teams that depend on one person.
What you will learn
How to balance autonomy and support, and how to develop the next generation of leaders.
In practice
Your leadership development project shows how you will lift others in your own organization.

06 · About the programme

Built on experience. Grounded in people.Focused on performance.

The Nordic Leadership Programme was developed by Patrick Sackner Christensen, founder of Sackner Group and author of The Nordic Leadership Spiral. It builds on his experience in international organizations, leadership development, organizational culture, psychology and elite sport.

It connects research and practice with one simple principle: leadership is expressed through behavior. The purpose is to help leaders create workplaces where people feel safe, connected, recognized, responsible, motivated and empowered.

Who will fund the programme?

12 · Questions

Frequently askedquestions.

Something else on your mind? Write to patrick@sackner.org.

  • Who is the programme designed for?

Leaders with responsibility for people or a clear path towards it: team leaders, middle managers, department heads, business owners, senior managers, HR and organizational development professionals, and specialists moving into leadership. You do not need a C suite title, only a genuine interest in developing your leadership behavior.

  • Do I need previous leadership experience?

No minimum is required. What matters is that you lead people today, or will soon, and want to apply what you learn in practice.

  • Is the programme suitable for small business owners?

Yes. Leaders from small and medium sized companies are a core part of the group, alongside leaders from larger national and international organizations.

  • What language will the programme be delivered in?

The programme is delivered in English by default, creating a shared international learning environment. We adapt to each cohort, and with enough applicants we may form separate groups in Danish, Swedish and English. Communication with us is in English, Danish or Swedish, whichever you prefer.

  • Where will the modules take place?

The first programme is planned to take place in Denmark and Sweden, with Norway also being considered. Exact venues and module locations will be confirmed before you accept your place.

  • Is accommodation included?

Yes. Hotel accommodation according to the confirmed programme, meals and refreshments during the modules are included. Travel is not.

  • How much time should I expect to spend between modules?

Expect a few hours of group work between modules, alongside practical reflection and application in your own leadership role. The group work is designed to fit around your working life.

  • What happens if I miss a module?

Certification requires participation in all three in-person modules. If you may miss a module, contact us before confirming your place to discuss the available options.

  • What does the certification represent?

The Nordic Leadership Programme Certificate is a professional programme certificate issued by Sackner Group. It is not a university degree or an independently accredited academic qualification.

  • Can my employer pay for the programme?

Yes. Tell us in the application who will fund your place, and invoicing details follow once your place is confirmed.

  • Can participants from outside the Nordic region apply?

Yes. Leaders from anywhere in the world are welcome to apply. The programme is rooted in Nordic leadership and welcomes international perspectives.

  • Are payment installments available?

No. The programme fee is paid in full in advance, once your place has been confirmed.

  • What happens if the programme is postponed?

If a module has to be moved, for example due to illness, we set new dates together with the group. As a rule, other experienced facilitators step in so the programme can run as planned.

  • Which law applies in case of a dispute?

The agreement is governed by Swedish law, and any dispute is handled in Sweden.

  • How are leadership assessment results handled?

Your results are confidential and used for your own development. They are not shared with your employer without your consent. See our privacy policy for more information.

Terms and cancellation

Applying is free and does not create a binding purchase. Read the terms for your purchase below. Your confirmed offer and the relevant terms are supplied before you accept a place.

Private prices include 25% VAT. Business prices are shown excluding VAT. Exact dates, venue and accommodation are confirmed before a binding booking.

Business booking terms

1. Provider and scope

The Nordic Leadership Programme is provided by Sackner Group AB, registration number 559548-3917, Stenöregatan 31, 21831 Bunkeflostrand, Sweden. Contact: patrick@sackner.org.

These terms apply to businesses and organizations purchasing for professional purposes. They do not apply to consumer purchases.

2. Application and binding agreement

An application is free and does not constitute a binding purchase. A booking becomes binding when the customer accepts Sackner Group’s written offer and these terms in writing. The person accepting must be authorized to represent the purchasing organization.

The offer specifies the programme, confirmed dates, venue, included services, price and payment deadline. Specific written arrangements take precedence over these terms. Subsequent changes to these terms do not alter an existing agreement without consent.

3. Price and payment

The price and currency are stated in the offer. Business prices exclude applicable VAT unless stated otherwise. The full fee is payable in advance by the agreed deadline. An installment arrangement requires separate agreement and does not reduce the full payment obligation.

Late payment may incur statutory interest and legally recoverable collection costs. After written notice and a reasonable opportunity to pay, Sackner Group may suspend access because of overdue payment.

4. Cancellation by the customer

A binding booking reserves a place for the complete programme. If the customer cancels, the full agreed programme fee remains payable. Payments received are not refunded, and any outstanding balance remains due.

This applies before and after commencement, including illness, changes in employment, workload, travel difficulties, absence or withdrawal. The programme involves advance commitments for accommodation, catering, teaching, guest contributors, events, preparation and reserved capacity.

Cancellation must be communicated in writing to patrick@sackner.org. Exceptions require a separate written agreement or an overriding legal entitlement.

5. Replacement participant

Before commencement, the entire place may be transferred without a transfer fee to a suitable colleague from the same organization. The replacement must meet the admission requirements and receive written approval, which will not be unreasonably withheld.

Commencement means the first scheduled participant activity, including any digital introduction or preparation session. After commencement, the place cannot be transferred, shared or divided. The original customer remains responsible for payment unless otherwise agreed. Additional requested services require advance agreement.

6. Absence and certification

Missed sessions, late arrival, early departure and interrupted participation do not entitle the customer to a refund, replacement teaching or another cohort. Alternative arrangements require separate agreement.

Certification requires fulfillment of the attendance, assignment and assessment requirements communicated before booking. Payment alone does not guarantee certification. The Sackner Group certificate recognizes professional development. It is not a university degree or a guarantee of business or career results.

7. Included services

The offer specifies teaching, assessments, materials, meals, accommodation and other included services. Accommodation covers only the confirmed nights and room arrangement. Travel, additional nights, upgrades, parking and personal expenses are excluded unless expressly included. Wait for confirmed dates and venue before booking travel.

8. Changes and cancellation by Sackner Group

Reasonable adjustments to teaching order, methods, contributors and venue may be made while preserving essential scope and quality. Guest contributors may be replaced by suitably qualified alternatives.

Material changes to confirmed dates, location or delivery format will be communicated promptly. If a material change prevents participation, the customer may accept the alternative or cancel affected, undelivered services and receive the corresponding refund.

If Sackner Group cancels, including because of insufficient confirmed participants, the customer will be offered an alternative or a refund for the cancelled services. A residential programme will not be replaced entirely by digital delivery without agreement.

9. Events beyond reasonable control

An affected party must notify the other promptly and take reasonable steps to reduce the consequences. The parties will seek a practical alternative. If affected activities cannot be delivered within 90 days of their original dates, either party may terminate the undelivered part by written notice. Fees paid for that part will be refunded. Obligations for services already delivered remain unaffected.

10. Conduct, confidentiality and materials

Participants must behave respectfully, follow reasonable safety instructions and protect confidential information shared during the programme. Serious misconduct, harassment, unsafe conduct or a serious confidentiality breach may lead to suspension or exclusion. Where appropriate, a warning and opportunity to correct the issue will be given first. Financial consequences will reflect the circumstances, services delivered and reasonably unavoidable commitments.

Materials remain the property of Sackner Group or the rights holder. Personal learning and professional application are permitted. Resale, distribution and reproduction for commercial training require permission. Recording, automated transcription and AI meeting tools require prior permission from Sackner Group and affected participants.

11. Personal information and publicity

Personal information is processed under the privacy policy at sackner.org/privacy-policy/. Acceptance of these terms does not authorize promotional use of images, testimonials or assessment results. Required permission will be obtained separately.

12. Complaints and liability

Report concerns to patrick@sackner.org as soon as reasonably possible. Sackner Group must have a reasonable opportunity to investigate and remedy failures.

To the extent permitted by law, liability for indirect or consequential loss is excluded. Sackner Group’s aggregate liability is limited to the agreed fee for the affected participant. These limitations do not apply to fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, personal injury caused by negligence, express refund obligations or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13. Governing law and disputes

Swedish law applies. The parties will first seek resolution through discussion. Unresolved disputes will be submitted to Swedish general courts, with Malmö District Court as the court of first instance, unless mandatory law requires otherwise.

Private customer terms

1. Provider and scope

The Nordic Leadership Programme is provided by Sackner Group AB, registration number 559548-3917, Stenöregatan 31, 21831 Bunkeflostrand, Sweden. Contact: patrick@sackner.org.

These terms apply when you purchase as a consumer, primarily for purposes outside your trade, business or profession. Your legal status depends on the actual circumstances, not solely on who pays. Nothing in these terms restricts mandatory consumer rights.

2. Application and booking

Applying is free and creates no purchase obligation. Before a binding booking, you receive an offer specifying the programme, confirmed dates, venue, included services, total price and payment arrangements.

The agreement becomes binding when you expressly accept the offer and these terms. Confirmation and terms will be provided by email or another format you can retain. Specific written arrangements cannot reduce mandatory rights. Later changes do not alter your booking without agreement.

3. Price and payment

The total consumer price includes applicable VAT and mandatory charges. Optional extras require your agreement. Payment is due in advance by the agreed deadline. Installments require separate agreement and do not reduce the total price.

Late payment may incur statutory interest and legally recoverable costs. Rights to dispute an incorrect invoice or withhold payment where legally justified remain unaffected.

4. Right of withdrawal

For a distance booking, you have a statutory right to withdraw within 14 days of concluding the agreement. The period cannot expire before the legally required withdrawal information has been supplied. You do not need to give a reason.

Notify Sackner Group before the deadline by email to patrick@sackner.org, by post to the address above, or using the online withdrawal function where provided. Any clear statement is sufficient. The form below is optional.

Following valid withdrawal, payments will be refunded without undue delay and within 14 days of notification, using the original payment method unless otherwise expressly agreed. No refund fee is charged.

If you expressly request services to begin during the withdrawal period and receive the required information beforehand, you may have to pay a reasonable, proportionate amount for services actually supplied before withdrawal.

Materials, preparation or one session do not automatically remove withdrawal rights for the entire programme. The right for a service ends on full performance during the withdrawal period only if the statutory requirements for express prior consent and acknowledgment have been met.

5. Cancellation after the withdrawal period

You may cancel after the withdrawal period, but cancellation is not necessarily free. Sackner Group may claim compensation permitted by Swedish law for services supplied, reasonable preparation, unavoidable commitments and recoverable loss from the reserved place.

The calculation accounts for costs saved, supplier refunds and replacement bookings. The same loss will not be charged twice. Compensation may reach the full programme price, but will not exceed it. A calculation is available on request.

Where an unforeseeable and unavoidable circumstance, such as illness making attendance impossible, causes cancellation, compensation is limited as required by law. Compensation for a lost participant place will not be claimed where legally excluded. Reasonable supporting information may be requested without requiring unnecessary medical details.

Payments exceeding the lawful charge will be refunded. No additional voluntary refund or free cancellation entitlement is offered beyond these terms and applicable law.

6. Replacement participant

Before commencement, you may transfer the entire place without a transfer fee to a suitable colleague or other replacement. They must meet admission requirements and receive written approval, which will not be unreasonably withheld.

Commencement means the first scheduled participant activity, including digital introduction or preparation. After commencement, the place cannot be transferred, shared or divided. Statutory cancellation rights remain unaffected. You remain responsible for payment unless otherwise agreed.

7. Absence and certification

Absence, late arrival, early departure or withdrawal does not create an additional entitlement to replacement teaching, another cohort or a refund. Statutory rights remain unaffected and are assessed under sections 4 and 5 and applicable law.

Certification depends on the attendance, assignment and assessment requirements disclosed before booking. The Sackner Group certificate recognizes professional development, not a university degree or a guarantee of career results.

8. Included services and expenses

Your offer specifies included teaching, assessments, materials, meals and accommodation. Accommodation covers only confirmed nights and room arrangements. Travel, additional nights, upgrades, parking and personal expenses are excluded unless expressly included. Wait for confirmed dates and venue before booking travel.

9. Changes, cancellation and delivery failures

Reasonable adjustments preserving essential scope and quality may be made, including teaching order and suitable replacement contributors. Material changes to confirmed dates, location or delivery format will be communicated promptly. Statutory rights to reject changes, terminate, obtain a refund or claim other remedies remain unaffected.

If Sackner Group cancels before commencement, you will be offered an alternative or a refund. You need not accept an alternative. If part cannot be delivered, you retain your rights for affected services. An agreed residential programme will not become entirely digital without your agreement.

10. Events beyond reasonable control

Sackner Group will promptly notify you of serious circumstances affecting delivery and take reasonable steps to reduce their impact. An alternative may be offered without requiring you to waive statutory rights.

If affected activities cannot be delivered within 90 days of their original dates, either party may terminate the undelivered part and its fees will be refunded. Any earlier statutory right to terminate or obtain a refund takes precedence.

11. Conduct, confidentiality and materials

Participants must behave respectfully, follow reasonable safety instructions and protect confidential information. Serious misconduct or unsafe behavior may lead to suspension or exclusion, normally following a warning and opportunity to correct it where appropriate. This does not automatically justify retaining the entire fee; consequences are assessed under applicable law.

Materials may be used for personal learning and professional application. Commercial copying, distribution and resale require permission. Recording, automated transcription and AI meeting tools require prior permission from Sackner Group and affected participants.

12. Personal information and publicity

Personal information is processed under the privacy policy at sackner.org/privacy-policy/. Accepting these terms is not consent to marketing or promotional use of your image, testimonial or assessment results. Required permission will be obtained separately.

13. Complaints and disputes

Send complaints to patrick@sackner.org with the issue and requested remedy. Sackner Group will investigate and have a reasonable opportunity to address it. Statutory rights regarding defective or undelivered services remain unaffected.

Eligible disputes may be referred to Allmänna reklamationsnämnden, ARN, at arn.se, Box 174, 101 23 Stockholm, Sweden. You may also bring proceedings in a competent court.

Swedish law applies without depriving you of mandatory protection under the law of your country of habitual residence where applicable, or access to a competent court.
